Da ow aga*

By: Kinsey

On July 18th we went to Tahoe Valley RV Resort. It was VERY crowed.

It was kind of hard to do anything because everybody LOVED the trailer! And we met some fun people. We played with our new friend, Samantha while Mom and Dad cooked dinner. A few minutes later we went to the play ground. There was a giant hamster wheel! When we got there it was occupied by three little boys that were throwing sand into the wheel!!! After they were told to stop by a grown up the plan was worked out. We turned away from the wheel and we spun it as fast as we could to get all the sand out. Fortunately it worked! Zoë, Sam, and I all figured out that it's much more fun to watch people on the hamster wheel then go on the hamster wheel. I think that I was the one out of Zoë and Sam to think that because of my skinned knees and elbow. Zoë has two names for the hamster wheel, The Death Trap Of Hamsterness, and Prove How Stupid You Are. After we decided that we were not going on the wheel any more we climbed bars. As soon as we heard the walky-talky go off and say " Dinner's almost ready." We started back and Sam went with her brothers. For dinner we had potatoes and salad, and I personally thought it was delicious. After dinner we invited Sam over to our site to have s'mores. We also showed her and a few others some of the pictures from our trip. When Zoë showed Sam the pictures of the prairie dogs I introduced her to my stuffed prairie dog Punk. We also introduced her to our Worry Eaters, after she had asked what the pirate stuffed animal was. Flint was her favorite, just like Mom's.
This is Mom and Flint at the The Salt Flats.

The next morning we got up early to go see Lake Tahoe. We had some trouble finding a beach to go to because most of them didn't let trailers in. We parked at the Visitor's Center and walked the half mile trail to Kiva Beach.

I dug the hole and Dad buried me up to my knees!

Enno and Betty enjoyed the beach too
When we got there we saw many dogs. They were very playful and fun to watch. Tahoe is a big beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. The water was very shallow for a long ways. I started by walking then running then swimming. I went out until the water was up to my chest which was really far. It got a little cold and no one else wanted to get in with me. I was the only one who thought it was warm. I saw a few other girls go out to a big post in the water. Mom says it was a "No Wake" sign. I didn't go that far because I was afraid of getting splashed by the people who were jumping off of it. Zoë tried to make me into a mermaid on the beach but I wanted to go back in the water. Mom made me sit on my towel so she could draw me, and a dog came up and licked me! Pretty soon it was time to get back on the trail. We decided to eat lunch at the Burger Lounge. The burgers were good but we didn't get to eat ice cream. How sad. Dad says we can have ice cream in San Diego.
* Da ow aga is the Washoe name for Lake Tahoe. The Europeans heard Tahoe and now that's what the Lake is called.
See ya!
